Kelsey Larsen and
Olivia Schwarzrock from Wayne State College were named Tuesday morning to the 2024 Academic All-District Women's Track and Field teams selected by College Sports Communicators. The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field and in the classroom. Eligible nominees must maintain a minimum 3.50 grade point average and post a performance in the top 50 in his/her event in the Central Region.
Larsen, a senior from Walthill (BRLD High School), maintained a 3.99 grade point average majoring in pre-physical therapy and is a repeat Academic All-District selection. This season, she ranked 49
th in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 41:47.25. Last season as a junior, Larsen set new school records on the 4 x 800-meter relay in the outdoor season at the Drake Relays and during the indoor campaign earned All-NSIC honors with a second-place finish in the 1,000-meter run while also setting a new school record in the event.
Schwarzrock, a sophomore from Gibbon, Minnesota (Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop HS), recorded a 3.83 grade point average majoring in forensic science. During the outdoor season, she placed fifth at the NSIC Championships in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 164' 0" and made the finals just missing a medal with a ninth-place finish in the shot put at 41' 2 ¼". Schwarzrock also medaled in two events during the NSIC Indoor Championships capturing All-NSIC honors with a third-place finish in the weight throw (57' 7 ½") and was seventh in the shot put at 42' ¾".
