Freshmen Allie Czapla and
Kaitlyn Bloomenrader were the top finishers for the Wayne State College women's cross country team Friday evening at the season opening Augustana Twilight Invitational held at Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls. As a team, Wayne State finished 15
th out of 31 teams with a point total of 414.
Nebraska captured the team title with 33 points followed by South Dakota State in second at 43. Augustana came in third with 64 points while Minnesota State and Iowa Central Community College tied for fourth with 143 points each.
The top two runners for the Wildcats were freshmen as Allie Czapla from Blair High School was the first WSC runner to cross the line on the 5,000-meter course with a time of 19:17.16 to finish 73
rd overall out of a large field of 240 runners.
Kaitlyn Bloomenrader from Sequim, Washington was next in 81
st place overall at 19:30.18. Junior
Sydney Escritt followed in 128
th place overall in a time of 20:12.31 with sophomore
Callie Kirchner close behind in 132
nd place at 20:15.91.

th and 157
th respectively with times of 20:36.50 and 20:37.83.
