WSC volleyball has four on All-NSIC First Team - Miller named Freshman of the Year and DePew Assistant Coach of the Year

            Wayne State had four players named to the 2025 NSIC Volleyball All-Conference Team announced Thursday afternoon by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota.  Channatee Robles was a repeat First Team selection.  Sophomores Chloe Hanel and Molly Romano also garnered First Team honors while freshman Delaney Miller was a First Team honoree and was also voted Freshman of the Year.  Assistant Coach Kim DePew was also named Assistant Coach of the Year by league coaches. 
            Robles, a 5-11 junior outside hitter from Norfolk Catholic HS, is an All-NSIC First Team honoree for a second straight season.  In NSIC matches this year she is averaging 3.62 kills and 3.14 digs per set.  Robles has a team-high 10 double-doubles this season and was named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week October 20th after averaging 6.00 kills that included a career-high 24 kills and 18 digs vs. #15 SMSU on October 18th.  For the season, Robles ranks sixth in the NSIC in points per set (4.01), is ninth in kills (3.39) and tied for third in service aces at 0.45 per set. 
            Hanel, a 6-0 sophomore middle hitter from Clarkson (Clarkson-Leigh HS), is an All-NSIC First Team selection this season thanks to 2.92 kills and 1.10 blocks in 18 NSIC matches so far this season.  She has been named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week (9/29/25) and NSIC Defensive Player of the Week (10/13/25).  Hanel tied a school record October 11th with 13 blocks to go with 18 kills in a 3-2 win over #10 St. Cloud State.  She also had a career-high 24 kills in a 3-2 win over #16 Minnesota Duluth September 26th.  Overall this season, Hanel averages 3.01 kills and 1.01 blocks (tie 5th-NSIC) and ranks third in hitting percentage at .398 and 10th in points per set (3.78) for the Wildcats.
            Romano, a 5-9 sophomore setter from Council Bluffs, Iowa (Abraham Lincoln HS), is a First Team recipient this year after named All-NSIC Second Team as a freshman last season.  She ranks sixth in the NSIC in assists this season, averaging 11.21 in conference play and 10.94 overall to go with 2.52 digs.  Romano, who has nine double-doubles this season, had a career-high 60 set assists in Wayne State's 3-2 win over #16 Minnesota Duluth September 26th.  She is a two-time NSIC Setter of the Week this season, winning the award October 20th and November 3rd.
            Miller, a 5-10 freshman outside hitter from Ankeny, Iowa (Centennial HS) was voted All-NSIC First Team along with NSIC Freshman of the Year.  In NSIC play this season, she ranks third in kills per set at 3.79 and has 10 or more kills in 13 of 17 league matches.  Miller had consecutive 20-kill matches in October, recording 21 vs. #15 SMSU (10/18/25) followed by a season-high 22 in a 3-1 win at Augustana October 21st.  Overall, Miller is sixth in the NSIC this season with 3.47 kills per set and has 16 matches with 10 or more kills and three contests of 20 or more kills.
            DePew, in her 18th season as assistant coach, has helped WSC win 20 or more matches in 17 of her 18 years on the Wildcat bench.  She has coached numerous All-NSIC setters, including Molly Romano the past two seasons.  DePew has helped coach WSC to its #3 national ranking and current 11-match win streak this season and has been a part of two NSIC regular season titles (2022, 2023) and two NCAA Central Region championships in 2015 and 2023. 
            Wayne State, ranked third in this week's AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, is 24-3 on the season and tied for first in the NSIC with a 17-1 conference record.  The Wildcats are home this weekend hosting the University of Jamestown Friday at 6 p.m. on Autograph Poster Night and Northern State Saturday in a 5 p.m. contest.
