Game Recap: Softball |

Wildcats Keep Rolling in Florida, Defeat Northwood 5-0

WSC picked up their second win of the day down in Florida, defeating the Northwood Huskies 5-0. Kennadi Borngrebe picked up her seventh win of the season, only giving up four hits and struck out nine batters.
The 'Cats ripped off three runs in the bottom of the first inning and never gave up the lead. Emilee Marth doubled in her first at bat and earned an RRI as Jordyn Klein scored the first run. Hayley Murphy stepped up to the plate and singled out to left center that allowed Leah Chance to get home. Marth scored the third run after tagging up after Maddie Scobee hit a sacrifice fly to left field.
In the sixth, the 'Cats escaped the jam by leaving three runners stranded on base after Borngrebe struck out the batter for the third out.
WSC would tack on two more runs being a Murphy double and a Mary Krystofiak single. In the top of the seventh, the Wildcat defense was able to keep the Huskies out of scoring position and shut them out for their second win of the day.
Marth went 2-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Murphy contributed two hits as well with one run and two RBIs. Borngrebe improved to 7-4 and struck out nine batters.

Wayne State will close out their Florida trip tomorrow morning with two more games. The Wildcats take on Queens College (N.Y.) at 8:00 a.m. (Central) and then Ohio Dominican at 10:15 a.m.
