Chase Douglas named NSIC Baseball Player of the Week

            Chase Douglas of Wayne State College was named the Northern Sun Conference Baseball Player of the Week by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota Monday morning following his play in six Wildcat wins last week.
            A 5-10, 180-pound senior second baseman from Marshall, Minnesota, Douglas posted a .579 batting average in six games last week going 11 for 19 at the plate with eight RBI and 10 runs scored.  He had five multi-hit games and had six stolen bases with four walks during the week.
            Douglas went 2 for 3 with a homer, four RBI and two runs scored in last Monday's 11-1 win over Wayne State (Mich.).  He was 3 for 4 with a double and run scored in Friday's 6-3 victory over Bemidji State.  Douglas also went 2 for 4 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 19-1 win over the Beavers and he was 2 for 4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in a 12-11 Tuesday win over Ohio Dominican.
            For the season, Douglas is batting .349 for the Wildcats in 17 games and ranks second in the NSIC with 13 stolen bases.
            Wayne State, 9-8 overall and 5-3 in the NSIC, is scheduled to host Minot State in a four-game NSIC series this weekend with doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday at 12 p.m. each day.
