2/18/2026 9:01:00 AM

Wayne State head football coach Logan Masters has announced the promotion of two coaches and the hirings of two more coaches to the Wildcat coaching staff for the 2026 season.  D'Mauria Martin has been promoted from special teams coordinator to defensive coordinator while defensive line coach Will Anglin adds special teams coordinator to his duties.  New coaching hires to the Wildcat staff are Will Lawrence as linebackers coach and Kasen Handal will be the new defensive backs coach.
Martin just completed his first season as special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at WSC.
"Coach DA is an extremely intelligent young coach and excited to name him as our new defensive coordinator," said Coach Masters.  "He has done an outstanding job building relationships with our student athletes as well as with our recruits and their families."
Anglin just completed his third season as defensive line coach for the Wildcats, helping a WSC defense rank second in the NSIC in sacks (33) and tied for first in forced fumbles with 10 while leading the league in total defense (280.6), scoring defense (17.7) and rushing defense (81.4).
Lawrence comes to Wayne after serving the past three seasons as defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at Nebraska Wesleyan.  He also served as defensive coordinator in 2022 at West Hills College in California and was defensive coordinator and inside linebacker coach at Graceland in Iowa from 2020-22.
Handal coached last season at Waldorf University where he served as defensive backs coach.  He was a standout defensive back for the Warriors from 2022-24, earning All-North Star Athletic Association honorable mention as a junior in 2023 after recording 64 tackles with two interceptions and three pass breakups to rank second on the team in tackles.  Handal was the #4 tackler as a senior in 2024 with 55 tackles in nine games.
"I am excited to announce Coach Anglin as our new special teams coordinator, Coach Lawrence as our new linebackers coach and Coach Handal as our new defensive backs coach," remarked Masters.  "All three are detailed and highly motivated to keep creating great young men on and off the field.  They all bring energy and hard work in everything they do."
Wayne State ended the 2025 season at 7-4 overall, winners of their last four games that included wins over #9 Minnesota State and #13 Augustana.  The Wildcats finished as NSIC South Division champions with a 5-1 division mark.
