Concordia-St. Paul used 53% shooting and 14 three points to defeat the Wayne State men's basketball team 95-59. Wayne State moves to 14-10 overall and 10-8 in the league while the Golden Bears move up to 16-8 and 11-7.
Wayne State struck first in the matchup with a pair of free throws from
Andrew Stokes but that would be the only lead for the 'Cats. The Golden Bears connected on six threes throughout the half to build their lead all the way to 23 points before a
Darshan Thomas field goal made it 43-22 going into the halftime break.
CSP forced Wayne into 10 turnovers and scoring 18 points from them. Stokes led the 'Cats with eight points in the first half.
Aurrion Harris led the squad with six rebounds in the first 20 minutes of play.
The 'Cats were able to chip into the deficit as close as 17 twice early in the second half before CSP went on a run to extend the lead out to 30 points with seven minutes remaining.
Wayne State would not be able to recover and would drop the contest 95-59. Sophomore
Matt Noll led in scoring with 12 points followed by Stokes with 11. Harris was one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
WSC converted 23 of their 28 free throw attempts and pulled down 30 rebounds.
Wildcats will be back in Wayne next week taking on the Huskie from St. Cloud State. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
