The 2026 Wayne State football schedule has been officially released one day ahead of the team's annual spring game which will be held indoors this season on Saturday (April 11) on Dr. Ron Holt Field in the Wildcat Dome starting at 11 a.m.
           The 2026 Wildcat schedule showcases 11 games with 10 games in the Northern Sun Conference along with one non-conference opponent. WSC will play six league games within the NSIC South Division and four other league opponents from the North Division.
           Wayne State opens the 2026 season on Thursday, August 27 at Nebraska-Kearney in a 6 p.m. contest. The in-state rivalry resumed last season for the first time since 2011.
           The 'Cats open Northern Sun Conference play with a road trip to Minot State on Thursday, September 3
rd at 6 p.m.
           The first of five home games for the Wildcats is set for Saturday, September 12
th hosting Minnesota Duluth on Hall of Fame Day. This game time has not been finalized at this time.
           Wayne State will host league newcomer University of Jamestown in the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron Saturday, September 19
th at 6 p.m. on Family Day.
           WSC closes the month of September with a road game at Southwest Minnesota State at 5 p.m. to open NSIC South Division play.
           The first game in October is Homecoming at Wayne State as the Wildcats host Winona State on Saturday, October 3
rd at 1 p.m.
           Two road games follow for the 'Cats along with a bye week as WSC ventures to Bemidji State on October 10
th at 1 p.m. with a bye week October 17
th and an NSIC South Division road contest at Minnesota State October 24
th at 1 p.m.
           Wayne State hosts Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday, October 31
st at 1 p.m. and plays their final home contest on Saturday, November 7
th vs. Sioux Falls in the annual Egg Bowl Game at 1 p.m.
           The Wildcats conclude the 2026 season Saturday, November 14
th with a road test at Augustana starting at 1 p.m.
           Wayne State ended the 2025 season at 7-4 overall, winners of their last four games that included wins over #9 Minnesota State and #13 Augustana. The Wildcats finished as NSIC South Division champions with a 5-1 division mark.Â
