Wayne State shot an opening round of 328 to sit in 15
th place out of 18 teams after the first day of the NCAA Division II Central Regional Women's Golf Championships played Monday in St. Joseph, Missouri at the St. Joseph Country Club. Sophomore
Gaia Stancikova was the top Wildcat scorer on the opening day with a 79.
Rogers State and Henderson State are tied for the team lead after the first of three rounds with team scores of 309, one shot better than Washburn and Nebraska-Kearney. Minnesota State is fifth at 315 followed by Northwest Missouri State and Concordia-St. Paul (316), Arkansas-Fort Smith and Southwestern Oklahoma State each at 317 and Central Missouri 10
th with a 318.
Stancikova shot a +7 79 in the opening round for the top Wayne State score and is tied for 24
th overall in a field of 96 players.
Sophomore
Camryn Johnson followed with an 80 while senior
Saffire Sayre scored an 81. Junior
Erica Lee posted a round of 88 and junior
Hailey Kenkel finished with a 92.
Wayne State resumes play on Tuesday with the Wildcats teeing off right before and after 9 a.m. in the second round of the NCAA Central Regional Championships.
