Four members of the Wayne State College women's golf team were selected to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team released Tuesday morning.  Senior Saffire Sayre headlines the quartet, earning the award for a third straight year.  Other selections include junior Hailey Kenkel and sophomores Camryn Johnson and Gaia Stancikova.  Sayre and Stancikova both advance to the All-American ballot that will be voted on by CSC members and announced on Tuesday, July 7^th.
            To be eligible for the CSC Academic award a student-athlete must carry a 3.50 grade point average or higher and compete in 90 percent of the team's contests or must start in at least 66 percent of matches played.
            Sayre, a senior from West Des Moines, Iowa (West Des Moines Valley HS), produced a 4.00 grade point average this season majoring in applied math with an emphasis in mathematics and a minor in business administration, received the NSIC Elite 18 Award this spring as the top scholar athlete at a conference championship event.  On the course, Sayre posted a scoring average of 79.85 this season while playing in all 27 rounds producing two top-five finishes.  She earned NSIC All-Tournament Team honors tied for fifth at the NSIC Championships with a 54-hole score of 232 (78-80-74) and posted a fifth-place finish at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Invite shooting 77-83 for 160.
            Kenkel, a junior from Grand Island (Grand Island HS), maintained a 3.678 grade point average this season majoring in health and physical education.  She was named All-NSIC Second Team this season thanks to one tournament win and three top-5 finishes along with a 78.7 scoring average playing all 27 rounds.  Kenkel was the individual champion at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Invite, beating teammate Gaia Stancikova on the second hole of a playoff after shooting scores of 82 and even-par 71.  She also had a third-place finish at the Sioux Falls Invitational (74-80/154) and tied for fifth at the Wildcat Classic shooting 75-76 for 151.
            Johnson, a sophomore from Berwyn (Broken Bow HS), recorded a grade point average of 3.67 this year majoring in sport management.  On the course, she had a scoring average of 80.96 this season and had a season-best fourth place finish at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Invite with scores of 78 and 81 (159).  Johnson fired a season-best score of even-par 72 at the Spring Region Preview in April and had 11 rounds in the 70's this season.
            Stancikova, a sophomore from Castel San Pietro Terme, Italy, accounted for a 3.92 grade point average majoring in art and graphic design.  On the course, she broke her own single season school record for scoring average set last season by averaging 76.80 this season in 20 rounds played and was named All-NSIC First Team.  Stancikova recorded two tournament wins this season to go with three top-five and four top-10 finishes.  She captured individual medalist honors at the NSIC Championships in Blue Springs, Missouri April 22-24 shooting +8 224 over 54 holes winning the championship in a four-hole playoff over Concordia-St. Paul's Addi Wood.  She also had a tie for first with Wildcat teammate Hailey Kenkel at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Invite October 6-7 in Fremont shooting 78-75 (153) and was named NSIC Golfer of the Week April 8^th after shooting a 54-hole school record 221 highlighted by an even-par 72 at the Spring Region Preview in Oklahoma.
            Wayne State ended the 2025-26 season with its first-ever NSIC Women's Golf Championship and qualified for the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championships for a second straight year placing 17^th overall.
