The Wayne State College women's golf team set several new team and individual scoring records on their way to a second-place team finish Monday and Tuesday at the MIAA Fall Preview held in Andover, Kansas at Terradyne Country Club.  The Wildcats shot the two lowest single rounds in program history with scores of 288 and 291 for a 36-hole school record score of 579, trailing only Southwestern Oklahoma State's 574 for the team title.
            Central Oklahoma took third in the 15-team tournament at 580 followed by Nebraska-Kearney (583) and Washburn at 584 rounding out the top five teams.
            The 36-hole score of 579 marks the first-time ever a Wildcat women's golf team shot sub-600 in a 36-hole tournament, beating the previous school record of 609 (+33) set in the Wildcat Classic at the Wayne Country Club last spring.
            Individually, the Wildcats also set several new school records at three players placed in the top 10 out of a field of 85 players.
            Columbus freshman Molly Goc led the Wildcats finishing in a tie for sixth overall with a 36-hole score of +1 143, matching the school record set by Jazmine Taylor in 2022 at Victory Links Golf Club in Blaine, Minnesota.  Goc fired a new school record -2 69 on Monday and followed that with a +3 74 Tuesday for her 143 36-hole total.
            Senior Erica Lee (Millard North) was ninth overall at 144 with scores of 74 and a -1 70 Tuesday that included four birdies. Her 36-hole total of 144 is the third-lowest score in program history.
            Also posting a top 10 finish was freshman Saleah Vivanh-Vong, who shot rounds of 72 and 73 for a 145 (+3).
            Other Wildcat players on team scoring included senior Hailey Kenkel tied for 22^nd overall with a 147 (73-74) and junior Camryn Johnson who placed tied for 48^th overall shooting 75-78 for 153.
            Playing as an individual was freshman Kinsley Rector, who fired a +2 73 on Monday that included six birdies and a 78 Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 151 that tied for 41^st overall. 
Wayne State continues their season on October 5 and 6 when the Wildcats play in the Nebraska Intercollegiate Invite held in Cairo at Centura Hills Golf Club.
