2009 NSIC Men's Cross Country Championship Results
The Wayne State College men's cross country team earned an eighth place finish at the Northern Sun Conference Championships held in Bemidji, Minnesota Saturday at Greenwood Golf Course. The Wildcats scored 212 points to finish eighth in the 10-team field. Augustana captured the overall team title with a point total of 36 and Minnesota State was a distant second finishing with 68 points.
Junior York Thomas topped all Wildcat runners with a 13th place finish in 26:35.9, earning him Second Team All – NSIC honors by finishing in the top 20 individuals. Sophomore Matt Seiler was next for WSC finishing 42nd in 27:51.1. He was followed closely by fellow Wildcat John Kern finishing in 43rd and 27:52.4. Rounding out the scoring for the Wildcats were sophomore Jason Schaaf and junior Lee Anderson finishing 56th and 58th in 29:02.2 and 29:20.7 respectively.
In the men's division, following Augustana and Minnesota State in the team scores were, MSU – Moorhead (86 points), St. Cloud State (118), Minnesota – Duluth (125), Northern State (145), University of Mary (207) and following Wayne State were Winona State (243) and Concordia St. Paul (252).
The Wayne State men will close out the regular season on Saturday, November 7th hosting the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championships.
