Wayne State's Adam Fields shoots 76 in opening round of NCAA Central/West Regional

            Wayne State's Adam Fields shot a four-over par 76 Monday in the opening round of the NCAA Central/West Regional Men's Golf Tournament held at The Classic Club/Troon Golf in Palm Desert, California.  The junior from Sioux City Heelan is tied for 43rd place overall out of 108 players and has the third best individual qualifier score after the opening round of play.

            Trevor Blair of Cal State-Stanislaus and Gordon Webb of Western New Mexico are the first round leaders after shooting three-under par rounds of 69.  Jeremy Wendelken from Sonoma State, David Schroeder of Fort Lewis College and Ryan Indovina of CSU-Dominquez Hills are tied for third overall with scores of two-under par 70.

            The second of three rounds in the NCAA Central/West Regional will be played on Tuesday starting at 9:30 a.m. Central Time.
