Bruno named to 2010 CDS Division II Preseason All-American Team

2010 CDS Division II Preseason All-American Team

            Frederick Bruno of Wayne State College has been selected to the 7th annual 2010 CDS (Consensus Draft Services) Division II Preseason All-American Team, earning First Team Offense honors at kick returner.  It's the second straight season that a Wildcat football player has received this honor after linebacker Ryan Reeves (now graduated) was selected last season.

            Bruno, a 5-8 210 pound senior wide receiver/return specialist from Miami, Florida (Miami Springs HS), led Wayne State and the Northern Sun Conference in receiving last season with 77 catches for 1,163 yards and nine TD's to earn First Team All-Northern Sun Conference honors.  He also went on to earn Daktronics First Team Super Region #3 honors and was named AFCA Division II All-American and Associated Press Little College All-American.  Bruno also had 368 yards rushing on just 32 carries and six more TD's.  He ranked third in NCAA Division II in all-purpose yards per game (197.27), eighth in receiving yards per game (105.73), 11th in receptions per game (7.00) and tied for 20th in scoring with 14 touchdowns.  Bruno also had 450 yards in kickoff returns with one touchdown and another 161 yards in punt returns to finish the season with 2,170 all-purpose yards.

            Wayne State College finished the 2009 season with an 8-3 overall record, going 7-3 in the NSIC to finish in a tie for third place.  Wayne State College is an NCAA Division II school located in Wayne, Nebraska and competes in the 14-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
