Wayne State College junior defensive end Richard Daniel was named D2Football.com Defensive Player of the Week Wednesday morning following his performance in last Saturday's 24-17 overtime win over then ranked #13 Nebraska-Kearney. It's the second player of the week honor for Daniel this week after being named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
The 6-1, 210 pounder from Papillion-LaVista High School had seven tackles, including two sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss for minus 17 yards in the Wildcats' win over the Lopers. Daniel also forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and had one quarterback hurry.
Wayne State, ranked 25th in this week's AFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, is off this weekend and will host Minnesota, Crookston on Saturday, September 11th in a 1:00 p.m. contest at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne.
