Game 1 - Wayne State 8 Northern State 0 6 inn.

Game 2 - Wayne State 3 Northern State 1

Senior pitcher Katie Goetzinger recorded her third career perfect game and first baseman Jennifer Radley went 5 for 7 with four RBI's to lead the Wayne State softball team in a Northern Sun Conference sweep over Northern State Sunday afternoon at the Pete Chapman Softball Complex.  Goetzinger had 10 strikeouts in the opener and threw her fourth career no-hitter in an 8-0 win over the Wolves and Radley homered in the second game while going 2 for 3 with two RBI's in a 3-1 win to complete the sweep.  WSC is now 16-9 overall and 4-0 in league play while Northern State slips to 6-16 and 0-4 in the NSIC.

The story of the first game was Goetzinger's pitching as she retired all 18 batters from Northern State that she faced with 10 being retired on strikeouts.  WSC took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Jennifer Radley's single to right field that scored Aeriell Earleywine.  The 'Cats took a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning on run scoring doubles by Rachel Dukich and Katie Goetzinger.

A five-run sixth inning by Wayne State polished off the Wolves.  Sam Earleywine's bases-loaded clearing double was the big hit in the inning.  Aeriell Earleywine added an RBI double and Radley's RBI single scored Sam Earleywine to end the game on the eight-run rule.

WSC had 11 hits in the game, led by Radley's 3 for 4 effort with two RBI's.  Sam Earleywine finished 2 for 3 with three RBI's while Katie Goetzinger was 2 for 3 to support her perfect pitching performance.

The second game saw Wayne State make the most of their five hits in a 3-1 win over Northern State.  The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Sam Earleywine walked and scored on Jennifer Radley's two run homer to right center field.  After Northern State scored in the top of the third to cut the Wildcat lead to 2-1, the Wildcats came right back with a run of their own to take a 3-1 lead as Sam Earleywine connected for a solo homer over the left center field wall with two outs for the final run of the game.

Freshman Jordan Harris earned the win in the circle with relief help from Katie Goetzinger.  Harris improved to 3-1 on the season, allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk.  Goetzinger worked the final two innings for her third save of the year, striking out five of the six batters she faced.

Radley had two of Wayne State's five hits in the second game, going 2 for 3 with a homer and two RBI's.  Sam Earleywine was 1 for 2 with a solo homer and two runs scored.  Sarah Gottschalk and Rachel Dukich also had hits for WSC in the second game.

Wayne State will be in action again on Tuesday visiting #8 Minnesota State in a Northern Sun Conference doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
