Box Score Wayne State 1 Northwestern Oklahoma 1 Wayne State College and Northwestern Oklahoma played to a 1-1 tie in the women's soccer opener for the Wildcats Sunday afternoon in Galva, Oklahoma. WSC is 0-0-1 on the season while NWOSU is 0-1-1.
Wayne State opened the scoring at the 22:50 mark when junior
Rachel Mabrey scored on an assist by
Mallory Hoyt to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. The host Rangers knotted the score in the 40
th minute when Susana Abundiz scored to make the score 1-1.
Neither team scored the rest of the way as WSC held a 7-4 edge in shots during the second period. Northwestern Oklahoma had three shots in the first overtime while holding WSC without a shot and in the second overtime the Rangers had two shots to one by the Wildcats.
WSC held an 18-15 edge in shots over Northwestern Oklahoma and had a 9-3 edge in corner kicks. The Wildcats were called for 21 fouls compared to 13 on the Rangers.
Josie Brown had a team-high four shots (two on goal) for the Wildcats followed by
Kelsea Lambert with three shots and two on goal.

Margaret Harma was credited with seven saves while allowing just one goal in her collegiate debut for the Wildcats.
Wayne State will be in action again on Wednesday night visiting Nebraska-Kearney in a 7 p.m. match followed by a 5 p.m. contest Thursday at Augustana College in the NSIC opener.
