Wayne State 13 Nebraska-Kearney 5 10 different players recorded hits as Wayne State College scored runs in five of the six innings to down Nebraska-Kearney 13-5 Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Kelly Laas Memorial Invitational Softball Tournament played at the Husky Dome in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Wayne State is now 3-2 on the season with UNK falling to 0-8.
Wayne State scored two runs in the first and second innings and added five in the third for a 9-0 lead. After UNK made things interesting with a three-run fourth and two-run fifth to close within 9-5, WSC scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to make the final score 13-5 in six innings.
Senior
Jordan King led a balanced hitting attack for the Wildcats, going 3 for 3 with a double and two runs scored. Freshman leftfielder
Rachel Shumaker went 2 for 2 with two runs scored while
Alyssa Schropp finished 2 for 4 with two RBI's.
Kaiti Williams doubled and recorded three RBI's while catcher
Monique Alyea was 1 for 3 with three runs scored and two RBI's.

Cassy Miller (2-0) earned the pitching win, working 4 2/3 innings. She allowed five runs on six hits with four strikeouts and five walks. Senior
Kelcie Bormann pitched the final 1 1/3 innings and gave up one hit with one walk.
Wayne State is scheduled to play next weekend at the Missouri Southern Tournament in Joplin, Missouri with two games Saturday and two on Sunday.
