Wayne State 3 Kutztown (Pa.) 1 The Wayne State softball team used a complete game effort from
Kelcie Bormann alogn with a 3 for 4 day at the plate from
Lexie Loos to defeat Kutztown (Pa.) Wednesday morning 3-1 at the National Training Center Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. The Wildcats move to 8-2 on the season with the win while the Bears fall to 8-3.
Both teams scored runs in the third inning with Wayne State adding single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pick up the win.
WSC scored their first run in the fourth when
Becca Kalhorn singled and later scored on a
Shelby Wobken RBI single.
After Kutztown tied the score in the bottom of the fourth, WSC responded in the top of the fifth when Loos singled and crossed the plate on a Kalhorn single for a 2-1 Wildcat lead. The Wildcats added an insurance run in the sixth when Wobken singled and later scored on a Loos RBI single for the 3-1 win.
WSC had 11 hits in the win compared to six for Kutztown. Loos finished 3 for 4 with three singles, an RBI and run scored. Kalhorn and
Shelby Wobken each had two singles and an RBI for the Wildcats.
Bormann improved to 5-2 in the circle with the complete game win. She allowed one run on six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.
