3/21/2015 5:22:00 PM

Wayne State 4 Northwest Missouri State 1

Lexie Loos and Kaiti Williams combined to go 5 for 8 at the plate with three RBI's and two runs scored to lead Wayne State College in a 4-1 win over Northwest Missouri State Saturday afternoon at the Apple Market Classic Softball Tournament played in St. Joseph, Missouri.  The Wildcats move to 14-4 with the win while the Bearcats drop to 8-12.
WSC opened the scoring in the first when Loos singled and scored on a Williams double to right center field for a 1-0 Wildcat lead.
After Northwest Missouri State tied the score in the top of the second at 1-1, the Wildcats erupted for three runs on four hits in the fourth inning for a 4-1 lead.  Loos doubled to score Monique Alyea with the first run.  Jordan King followed with an RBI groundout to score Rachel Shumaker (singled) with Loos scoring on a Williams RBI single to make the score 4-1.
That was plenty of run support for senior pitcher Kelcie Bormann (9-3), who fired a complete game five-hitter with six strikeouts to get the win.
WSC had 10 hits in the game to five for the Bearcats.  Loos was 3 for 4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored while Williams was 2 for 4 with two RBI's and a double.  Becca Kalhorn also doubled while Melanie Alyea, Alyssa Schropp, Monique Alyea and Shumaker each singled.
Wayne State will close out play on Sunday in the Apple Market Classic in St. Joseph, Missouri, battling host Missouri Western at 11 am and Central Oklahoma at 3 pm.
