Megan Hagemann hit two run homers in each game to lead a Wildcat offense that hit five home runs on the day as Wayne State College recorded a 9-4 and 9-3 sweep in Northern Sun Conference softball at Concordia-St. Paul Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats move to 32-18 and 17-11 in the NSIC while dropping the Golden Bears to 16-35 and 10-18 in the NSIC.
The first game saw WSC score in five of the seven innings as the Wildcats finished with a 9-4 win over the Golden Bears.
Kaiti Williams,
Kelcie Bormann and
Sam O'Brien each had two hits in the win. Williams singled twice and scored two runs while O'Brien had a double and single.
Megan Hagemann added a two-run homer and scored three runs while
Alyssa Schropp added a double at the plate.
Senior
Sara Scheffert pitched five strong innings to pick up the win, now 7-6 on the season. She allowed eight hits and three runs with four strikeouts and two walks.
The second game saw the Wildcats pound out 18 hits, highlighted by four home runs, to finish the sweep with a 9-3 win.
Melanie Alyea, Bormann, O'Brien and Hagemann each homered to lead the Wildcat offense while
Lexie Loos went 4 for 5 at the plate.
O'Brien had a three run homer, Bormann and Hagemann each added two runs blasts while Alyea had a solo shot.
WSC had 18 hits in the win as Loos led a balanced offensive attack with four singles. Hagemann finished 3 for 4 with a two run homer while Alyea was 3 for 3 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored. Bormann chipped in three hits that included a homer while O'Brien ended 2 for 5 with a homer, double, three RBI's and two runs scored.
Bormann was the winning pitcher, striking out nine batters in a complete game win to improve to 17-8 on the season. She was charged with five hits and three runs.
Wayne State will close out the regular season Sunday afternoon at Minnesota State starting at 12 p.m
