            Wayne State used the long ball to earn 11-0 and 7-3 victories over Minnesota Crookston on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in a Northern Sun Conference softball doubleheader at the Pete Chapman Complex in Wayne, Neb. WSC is now 13-24 on the year and 7-11 in the NSIC while UMC falls to 6-32 and 2-14 in league play.
            The Wildcats got on the board in the first inning of game one thanks to an RBI single from junior
Emily Chandler that scored Morgan Vasa, who reached on a bunt single.
            Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when Wayne State erupted for five runs off six hits.
            Junior Taylor Menard led off the inning with a single through the left side and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from shortstop Annie Grammar. Senior Jordyn Breitbarth walked and senior

            The next inning, the Wildcats continued to pile on the runs, scoring five runs off three hits. Grammar led off the inning with a home run to left center to score the first run. With the base loaded, pinch hitter Ashley Hernandez belted a grand slam over the left field fence to make the score 11-0 and end the game by run rule.
            Freshman Maddie Moser earned the win and is now 3-9 on the year, allowing just two hits with two strikeouts in five innings of work.
            WSC produced 11 runs on 14 hits in the contest. Breitbarth went 2 for 2 with two runs scored and drew a walk while Chandler went 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored.             Freshman Ashley Hernandez crushed a grand slam in one at bat while

            Minnesota Crookston responded in the sixth to score three run, all with two outs, capitalizing on three Wildcat errors. After two quick groundouts to start the inning, UMC's             Khailyn Neumayer singled to centerfield and advanced to second on a fielding error. Heather Cunningham walked and Kassidy Klaphake loaded the bases when she singled to second base. Rocky Bjorge cleared the bases off two fielding errors by Wayne State to give the Golden Eagles their first runs of the day and a 3-1 lead.
            The Wildcats answered in the bottom half of the inning when Menard singled to left field and Grammar walked to put runners on first and second. The big hit of the inning came from senior centerfielder Jordyn Breitbarth. She stepped up to the plate and crushed her eighth home run of the season to regain the lead 4-3. WSC used a stolen base, RBI double and RBI groundout to close out the scoring in the sixth and go ahead 7-3.Â
            Wayne State held Minnesota Crookston scoreless in the top of the seventh to capture a sweep over the Golden Eagles.
            Maddie Moser earned her second win of the day after coming in for relief in the sixth inning. She tossed 1.1 innings, allowing only two hits and no runs. Starter
Riley Vanderveen tossed 5.2 innings, giving up no earned runs and striking out seven while allowing seven hits.Â

Emily Chandler and Jordyn Breitbarth led the Wildcats offensively for the second game in a row. Chandler went 3 for 3 with two runs scored while Breitbarth went 2 for 3 with three RBI and a run scored. Designated player Alyx Hagen also picked up two hits for the WSC while Wobken, Hix and Menard each added one hit.Â
           The Wildcats play their final home doubleheader of the season Monday afternoon hosting Bemidji State at 12 p.m. at the Pete Chapman Softball Complex in Wayne.Â
