The Wayne State College beach volleyball team dropped their opening match on their inaugural California Spring Break Beach Trip as the Wildcats fell 4-1 Tuesday afternoon to Irvine Valley College in Irvine, California. The Wildcats drop to 3-3 on the year with the Lasers now 3-7.
Four of the five matches in the contest went three sets.
The Wildcat win came in the #2 match as Wayne State freshmen
Kelsie Cada and
Jordan McCormick posted a three-set win over the Irvine Valley College #2 duo of Kendall Nolan and Alaina Thomas 15-21, 21-14, 15-12.
The #1 match went three sets before the Wildcat duo of
Hope Carter and
Tarrin Beller lost 21-18, 19-21, 15-7.
Other three set losses for the Wildcats came in the #4 match with
Elly Larson and
Jacee Weber falling 10-21, 21-14, 15-11 while the #5 team of
Rachel Walker and
Lauren Jacobsen fell in three sets by scores of 21=-18, 14-21, 15-13.
Wayne State will play two more matches on Wednesday on their spring break trip in California.
