The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Awards Thursday morning and Wayne State beach volleyball was recognized as the 2026 Division II Beach Team Academic Champion, posting the highest grade point average in Division II beach volleyball this season with a 3.74 cumulative grade point average.
            It's the seventh straight year that Wayne State beach volleyball has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award in beach volleyball and the fifth time in seven years that the Wildcat program has been named to the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll posting a GPA in the top 20 percent of their division.                      
            Wayne State ended the 2026 season with a winning record in beach volleyball for the fifth straight season, finishing at 12-8 overall.
