Ottawa University of Arizona, the defending NAIA National Beach Volleyball Champion, defeated Wayne State 4-1 Wednesday morning in a beach volleyball match played at Scottsdale Ranch Park in Scottsdale, Arizona. WSC is now 2-1 on the season while the Spirit improve to 6-2.
Two of the five matches went all three sets.
Wayne State's win came in the #3 match as sophomores
Kelsie Cada and
Jordan McCormick rallied for a 19-21, 21-18, 15-6 win.
The other three set result came in the #5 match as Ottawa's Mia Lara and Claire Nenninger outlasted
Lauren Jacobsen and
Jaci Brahmer 13-21, 21-15 and 15-9.
In the #1 match, Ottawa defeated
Hope Carter and
Taya Beller 21-19, 21-16. The #2 match saw Ottawa record a 21-18, 21-13 win over
Alyssa Ballenger and
Maddie Duffy while in the #4 match Ottawa scored a 21-19, 21-14 win over
Elly Larson and
Jacee Weber.
