St. Leo (Fla.) vs. Wayne State Final Results 4/16/21

            St. Leo University of Florida defeated Wayne State College 5-0 Friday afternoon in the second pool play match for the Wildcats at the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championships in Tavares, Florida.  St. Leo improves to 12-2 on the year while WSC is now 3-3.
            The #1 duo of Hope Carter and Taya Beller battled the top team for the Lions before falling 21-11, 25-23.  All other match results were 2-0 wins for St. Leo University.
            In the pairs challenge division, Wayne State's Jaci Brahmer and Lauren Jacobsen went 1-2 on the day.  In the first match, Texas A&M-Kingsville's Christina Gragasin and Shelby Tate beat Brahmer and Jacobsen 21-18, 21-14.  Brahmer and Jacobsen came back and posted a 2-0 sweep (21-9, 21-8) against Catawba's Mikayla Patterson and Jordan Gore followed by a 28-25 loss to Colorado Mesa's Savannah Ott and Hailey Peters.
            Wayne State wraps up pool play on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. against University of Tampa 2 followed by team bracket play.
