Wayne State's beach volleyball team opened bracket play Saturday afternoon at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Tavares, Florida with a sweep over Catawba College of North Carolina.  With the win, the 4-4 Wildcats earned the #1 seed in the Silver Playoff bracket for Sunday with a 10 a.m. match against the winner of Tusculum and Carson-Newman (Tenn.).
            The Wildcats posted 2-0 wins in all four matches over Catawba.
            In other action Saturday, Jaci Brahmer and Lauren Jacobsen won both matches in the Pairs Challenge Division Silver B Playoff bracket.  The duo posted a 21-9, 21-11 win over Florida Southern's Curry Ward and Hanna Sifford and won their final match in the bracket with a thrilling 19-21, 21-14, 17-15 victory against Hendrix College's Grace Turner and Faith Hill.
            Maggie Brahmer and Alaina Wolff split their matches while Rachel Walker split two matches also.
            Wayne State closes out play Sunday in bracket play in the Silver Division starting at 10 a.m.
