Wildcat Challenge Final Results 05/01/21
The Wayne State College men's track and field team had five event wins and one NCAA provisional qualifying mark Saturday at the Wildcat Challenge held on a warm, windy afternoon at LeRoy Simpson Track in Wayne. The event featured teams from Northern State, Sioux Falls and athletes from Division I South Dakota and Creighton.
Senior
Preston Davis scored two event wins, taking first in the javelin (160' 6 ½") and the 400 meter hurdles (59.35) while taking second in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.18 seconds.
Jediah Davis captured a first place finish in the 100 meter dash at 10.95 seconds while freshmen
Dylan Kneifl and
Cody Crosley posted event wins as Kneifl cleared 6' 4 ¾" to win the high jump while Crosley went 22' 1" for a first place mark in the long jump.
Senior
Dylan Kaup recorded an NCAA provisional mark in the hammer throw, taking third with a personal best mark of 198' 10 ¼".
Cade Kalkowski had a second place finish in the hammer throw at 212' 7 ¼" while
Cole Christoffersen took fourth at 190' 11 1/2".
Other second place finishes for the Wildcats came from
Brock Hegarty in the 1,500-meter run (4:10.03),
Noah Carr in the 100-meter dash at 11.07 seconds and
Cody Rogers in the triple jump (40' 11 ¾").
Third place finishes were recorded by
Noah Lilly in the pole vault (13' 9 ½") and
Ben Allen in the shot put (53' 7 ¾").
Brandon Mundorf was fourth in the 800-meter run at 2:02.99 with
Bryce Holcomb fifth in 2:03.42.
Grant Fritsch finished fourth in the discus at 159' ¾" while
Cody Rogers was fourth in the long jump (20' 8").
Wayne State will close out the regular season on Friday, May 7
th at the USD Tune-up in Vermillion.
