The Wayne State College beach volleyball team defeated Benedictine Mesa of Arizona Thursday afternoon by a 4-1 score in a match played at Gene Autry Park in Mesa, Arizona. The Wildcats are now 5-2 on the year while the Redhawks, ranked 12th in NAIA beach volleyball, slips to 2-3.
The #1 pair of
Lauren Jacobsen and
Taya Beller started with a 2-0 win. In the #2 pairs match, the duo of
Kelsie Cada and
Jordan McCormick posted a sixth straight win with a 2-1 victory. Following a 2-1 loss in the 3's dual by
Rachel Walker and
Jazlin DeHaan, the Wildcats closed the match with 2-0 sweeps by
Jessie Brandl and
Isabelle Vacek in the 4's and
Ally Beresford and
Brooke Peltz in the 5's contest.
The exhibition match was also won by WSC as
Maggie Brahmer and Beresford posted a 2-0 win.
Wayne State plays another match against Park University Gilbert on Thursday afternoon.
