The Wayne State College beach volleyball team avenged an earlier season loss to Park (Mo.) by beating the NAIA 6th-ranked Pirates 4-1 Wednesday afternoon in the Wildcats' third match at the Ottawa Volleyball Beach Tournament in Shawnee, Kansas. Park defeated Wayne State on February 25th in Lincoln by a 3-2 score. WSC is now 10-3 on the year while Park (Mo.) slips to 9-3.
Three of Wayne State's four match wins went all three sets with the Wildcats having to rally in two of the wins. In the #1 pairs match,
Kelsie Cada and
Jordan McCormick came back for a 10-21, 21-12, 15-11 win while
Jazlin DeHaan and
Rachel Walker rallied in the 3's pairing with a 19-21, 22-20, 15-12 win.
Jessie Brandl and
Isabelle Vacek in the #4 pairing outlast Park's #4 duo by scores of 21-15, 17-21, 15-13 while
Lauren Jacobsen and
Taya Beller in the 2's battle won 21-18, 21-14.
Wayne State will close out play at the Ottawa Beach Volleyball Tournament facing the host Ottawa Braves at 4 p.m.
