The Wayne State throwers posted strong marks to lead the Wildcat women's outdoor track and field team Friday at the Loper Invitational held in Kearney. Teams competing at the meet included host UNK along with Fort Hays State, Chadron State, Sioux Falls, South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State from NCAA Division II, Hastings College, Concordia, Bellevue and College of St. Mary in NAIA and Dodge City Community College.

Kendra Paasch placed in three events to lead Wayne State's throwers, placing third with a personal best mark of 45' 4 ¼" in the shot put to go with a fourth place finish in the discus (143' 0") and an eighth place effort in the hammer throw at 162' 7".
Junior
Brooklynn Chipps had a second place finish in the hammer throw at 178' 9" and was fourth in the shot put at 44' 11".
Jadin Wagner was fifth in the hammer throw (169' 1"),
Brooke Languis sixth in the shot put at 42' 10 ¼" and
Reilly Young seventh in the discus with a mark of 141' 5".
Keyla Sambo collected a third place finish in the triple jump (36' 7"),
Megan Hansen took third in the 100 meter hurdles (14.97) and
Sarah Cotton was third in the 200-meter dash in 25.57 seconds.
Other top finishers were
Emily Smollen fifth in the long jump (16' 3 ¾"),
Emily Erickson fifth in the triple jump at 34' 9 ¾" and Cotton eighth in the 100 meter dash at 12.58 seconds.
Wayne State will compete Friday and Saturday at the South Dakota Challenge in Vermillion.
