Abbey Kurmel shot rounds of 80 and 77 to place 14
th overall with a 157 leading the Wayne State women's golf team to a ninth place finish at the EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invitational hosted by Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minnesota at the Marshall Golf Club Saturday and Sunday.
           Augustana captured the team title with a 36-hole tournament score of 589 (292-297) with Minnesota State second at 629. Sioux Falls and Concordia-St. Paul tied for third at 635 with Chadron State a close fifth at 637.
           Morningside took sixth at 638, host Southwest Minnesota State and Gustavus Adolphus tied for seventh with 649 and Wayne State came in ninth at 650. Rounding out the team scores were Minnesota Crookston (657), Briar Cliff (664) and Bemidji State (705).
           Kurmel, a senior from Okemos, Michigan shot rounds of 80 and 77 for a 36-hole score of 157 to tie for 14
th place overall out of a field of 80 players. Senior
Jazmine Taylor (Millard North) followed in a tie for 23
rd at 160 with rounds of 77 and 83. Sophomore

           The Wildcats had four freshmen play as individuals.Â
Hailey Kenkel (Grand Island HS) shot an opening round 76 followed by an 87 to tie for 32
nd overall at 163.Â
Erica Lee, a graduate of Millard North HS, tied for 54
th overall at 171 shooting rounds of 87 and 84.Â
Kylie Powers (Irwin, Iowa) shot 87-85 for a 172 to place 57
th overall and Grand Island Northwest graduate
Olivia Ottman tied for 77
th with scores of 94 and 101 for a 195.
           Wayne State competes at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Invitational Saturday and Sunday at Awarii Dunes Golf Club in Axtell, Nebraska.
