WSC women's golf announces five recruits for 2026-27 season

            Wayne State College head women's golf coach Nick Swaney has announced the addition of five players who will continue their academic and athletic careers with the Wildcats for the 2026-27 season.  The group consists of Molly Goc from Columbus, Bella Michels of Sheldon, Iowa, Taylor Rasmussen from Clarinda Iowa, Kinsely Rector of Lynden, Washington and Saleah Vivanh vong from Des Moines, Iowa.
            "We are very excited for our 2026 class," said Coach Swaney.  "The group is extremely talented and will give us a great chance to reach new levels of success moving forward.  The incoming players have shown the ability to compete at the highest levels in their junior careers.  We are looking forward to them joining our program and making their mark as a Wildcat!"
            Molly Goc is from Columbus High School where she is a four-year starter in golf and soccer.  Goc captured Class A individual medalist honors this fall shooting 149 (74-75) for the Discoverers, helping the team to a fourth-place team finish.  She is a four-time Class A state qualifier in golf and earned 2025 Girls Golf Super State honors.  Goc hold numerous school records in golf including lowest nine-hole score (-3 33) and 18-hole score (-2 70).  She also excels in the classroom earning NCPA Academic All-State honors twice along with Academic All-Conference honors in golf and soccer.
            Bella Michels is from Sheldon High School in Iowa starting three years in golf.  She is a two-time All-Siouxland Conference First Team selection and was the Siouxland Conference champion last spring with a 42.
            Taylor Rasmussen is from Clarinda High School in Iowa where she has competed in golf and cross country.  She tied for 15th at the Iowa Class 2A State Girls Golf Tournament last spring with a 170 (90-80) and was named to the KMALand Iowa Girls Golf Team.  She is a three-time All-Hawkeye 10 First Team All-Conference selection and as a junior also earned All-Area and Class 2A Region 1 First Team accolades. 
            Kinsley Rector is from Lynden High School in Washington and is a four-year starter and letter winner in golf.  She is a three-time Class 2A state qualifier and two-time state medalist, placing 14th this year as a junior (89-81 170) and 14th as a freshman with scores of 85-84 for 169.  Rector is a three-time All Northwest Conference selection and was the District 1 champion as a sophomore and junior. 
            Saleah Vivanh vong comes from Des Moines North High School and is a four-year letter winner in golf.  She earned a seventh-place finish in the Iowa Class 4A State Tournament last spring shooting 74-75 for 149.  As a sophomore she shot even-par (71-71/142) to take third overall and was 10th as a freshman in 2023 shooting scores of 76-76 (152).  Vivanh vong is a two-time All-Alliance Conference selection in golf and was named All-Region this year.   
            Wayne State is an NCAA Division II school located in Wayne, Nebraska and competes in the 16-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.  The Wildcats made school history last season by qualifying for the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships, finishing 16th at the Central Region Championships in Edmond, Oklahoma.  The Wildcats already posted two tournament wins in the fall portion of their 2025-26 season.
