Wayne State College resumed their 2025-26 golf schedule by competing in the 54-hole, two-day Buccaneer Invitational hosted by Barry University in Florida Monday and Tuesday at the Miami Shores Country Club. The tournament showcased five of the top 20 teams in NCAA Division II and eight of the teams in the event were nationally ranked in either NCAA Division II or NAIA.
            The Wildcats closed the event with a team-best score of 312 Tuesday to finish the event in eighth place at 953. WSC shot rounds of 318 and 323 Monday followed by a 312 Tuesday.
           #11 Nova Southeastern captured the team title by one shot over #13 Barry and #35 Palm Beach Atlantic 878-879 with #8 Lynn (Fla.) a close fourth just two shots back at 880.Â
           Wayne State's top scorer was junior
Hailey Kenkel, who tied for 38
th overall, with scores of 78-82-77 for a 237 54-hole total. Junior
Erica Lee was next at 238 posting rounds of 79-80-79 for a 238.
           Sophomore
Camryn Johnson came in at 240 thanks to scores of 78-84-78. Senior
Meg Thompson had rounds of 83-83-78 for a 244 and senior
Saffire Sayre shot 87-78-82 for a 247 to close out the Wildcat scoring.
           Wayne State's next meet is March 23 and 24 at the Firekeeper Open in Mayetta, Kansas and hosted by Washburn University.Â
