Missouri Baptist edges Wildcats 3-2 at Ottawa Beach Tournament

            Missouri Baptist, ranked 10th in NAIA beach volleyball, edged Wayne State 3-2 Wednesday afternoon at the Ottawa (Kan.) Beach Volleyball Tournament played at Shawnee Mission Beach in Kansas.  The Spartans improve to 5-2 with the win while WSC drops to 7-4.
            Two of the five matches went three sets with two sets going extra points in the tightly contested match.
            Wildcat #2 pairing Kelsie Cada and Jordan McCormick recorded a 21-13, 21-14 win while Brooke Peltz and Rachel Walker in the 4's duo won a hard-fought 21-16, 21-23, 15-13 win for the Wildcat victories.
            The #5 match went all three sets before Missouri Baptist edge Maggie Brahmer and Havyn Heinz 16-21, 21-19, 15-11.  The 1's pairing of Missouri Baptist outlast Wayne State's Taya Beller and Allie Petry 21-19, 21-18 while the #3 team of Isabelle Vacek and Ally Beresford fell 21-17, 22-20.
            Wayne State is scheduled to face host Ottawa (Kan.) in their final match Wednesday afternoon at the Ottawa (Kan.) Beach Volleyball Tournament.
