3/5/2023 6:57:00 PM

Box Score Saint Anselm College 8 Wayne State 0 (5 inn.)

Saint Anselm College of New Hampshire snapped a scoreless game erupting for eight runs in the fifth inning to down Wayne State 8-0 in five innings Sunday afternoon at the National Training Center Spring Games Softball Tournament in Clermont, Florida.  The Wildcats drop to 1-10 while the Hawks are now 8-4 following the win.
The game was scoreless pitcher's battle between the two clubs until the fifth inning when Saint Anselm erupted for eight runs on five hits, three walks and a pair of WSC errors to take control of the game.
Wildcat pitcher Sami Felt had allowed just one hit and faced the minimum number of batters (12) through four innings of work.  A one-out single by Saint Anselm in the second was erased by a Wildcat double play to end the inning.
Wayne State was limited to a pair of singles in the game and only put two runners on base in one of the five innings as Natalie Arbizu led off the fifth hit by a pitch with senior Riley Holmberg reaching on a single with two outs.
Besides Holmberg's single the other Wildcat hit was a fourth inning single from Madison Gomez.  Arbizu reached base twice on a walk and hit batter.
Wayne State continues play Monday at the National Training Center Spring Games as the Wildcats face Saint Anselm again at 8 a.m. followed by a 1 p.m. contest against College of Staten Island from New York.
