Texas A&M Kingsville tops Wildcats at AVCA Small College Beach Championships

            #6 seed Texas A&M-Kingsville posted a 3-0 victory over Wayne State Friday afternoon in pool play at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Tavares, Florida with a 3-0 loss to #3 seed Palm Beach Atlantic.  The Javelinas are now 11-15 on the year while WSC falls to 10-6.
            In the first match completed, WSC #4 pairing Isabelle Vacek and Ally Beresford were defeated by scores of 21-13, 21-15.  #2 duo Kelsie Cada and Jordan McCormick suffered a 21-15, 21-14 loss while in the 5's matchup Wayne State's Maggie Brahmer and Havyn Heinz lost 21-15, 21-14.
            In the pairs challenge, Wayne State's Taylor Bunjer and Grace Baumert went 1-1 on the day.  The first match saw Isabella Muti and Kristen Mitternight of Spring Hill College outlast Bunjer and Baumert in three sets 21-11, 19-21, 15-12.  The second match saw the team of Bunjer/Baumert defeat Florida Southern's Emma Hufford and Sophia Rakauskas by scores of 21-10, 21-10.
Wayne State's next scheduled match at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships is Saturday morning closing out pool play against McKendree (Ill.) at 10 a.m. Eastern Time.
