#11 seed Wayne State edged Erskine College (SC) 3-2 Saturday afternoon in a challenge match at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Tavares, Florida. The Wildcats are now 12-6 while Erskine has a record of 5-28.
The Wildcat wins came from #2 pairing
Kelsie Cada and
Jordan McCormick in three sets by scores of 21-12, 18-21 and 15-5. The 3's duo of
Isabelle Vacek and
Ally Beresford posted a hard fought 21-18, 21-19 win while in the #5 match the Wayne State team of
Maggie Brahmer and
Havyn Heinz outlasted the Erskine 5s pairing 21-18, 21-18.
Wayne State will two matches in the Bronze Poll Sunday at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Florida, facing Eckerd (Fla.) at 8 a.m. and Tusculum (Tenn.) at 10:30 a.m.
