Newman Spring Invite Final Results
The Wayne State College women's golf team placed 10
th with rounds of 312 and 315 Monday at the Newman Spring Invitational played at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas. All teams in the 15-team meet played 36 holes Monday with the predicted bad weather forecast for Tuesday, the scheduled second day of the tournament.
Henderson State won the team title with a -27 under par score of 550 with Augustana coming in second at 581. Oklahoma Baptist (583), Rogers State (584) and Central Oklahoma (593) closed out the top five teams. Drury was sixth at 608 followed by Fort Hays State (612), Rogers State B team (620), Lincoln Mo. at 623 and Wayne State 10
th at 627.
The top finisher for Wayne State was junior
Abbey Kurmel, tied for 29
th overall, with rounds of 76 and 77 for a 153. Albion sophomore Abby Brodersen was next in a tie for 31
st at 154 after shooting scores of 75 and 79.
Other Wildcat players were
Tricia Hemann in a tie for 45
th at 159 (82-77),
Saffire Sayre at 161 (79-82) tied for 49
th and
Viktoria Bortkiewicz-Hamelin 73
rd overall after shooting rounds of 86 and 88 for a 174.
Wayne State's next meet is Monday and Tuesday, April 17 and 18, hosting the Wildcat Classic at the Wayne Country Club.
