2023 NSIC Women's Golf Championship Final Results
Wayne State shot a final round 321 Sunday in cold, windy conditions to maintain and finish in third place at the 2023 Northern Sun Conference Women's Golf Championship played at Paradise Pointe Outlaw Course in Smithville, Missouri. The Wildcats finished the three-day tournament with a new 54-hole school record score of 949 with rounds of 311-317-321 and had two players named to the NSIC All-Tournament Team in junior
Jazmine Taylor and freshman
Saffire Sayre.
Augustana captured a third straight NSIC women's golf title at 932, nine shots ahead of runner up Winona State and 17 shots ahead of third place Wayne State. Minnesota State (966) and Concordia-St. Paul (987) closed out the top five teams.
Southwest Minnesota State came in sixth at 1,003 with University of Mary seventh (1026). Sioux Falls (1040), Minot State (1047) and Minnesota Crookston (1086) rounded out the top 10 teams.
Millard North junior
Jazmine Taylor was the top Wayne State finisher in the meet, tied for second overall out of 64 players in the field. She recorded scores of 73-77-79 for a 229 (+13) and earned NSIC All-Tournament Team honors.
WSC had another top 10 finisher in freshman
Saffire Sayre, who was an NSIC All-Tournament Team selection after finishing in a tie for fifth overall at 233 (+17) with rounds of 77-72-84. Her second round even-par 72 tied a WSC school record for best 18-hole score and was the best-ever round shot by a Wildcat player at the NSIC Championships.
Sophomore
Abbigail Brodersen took 14
th overall with a score of 242 (+26), shooting scores of 78-83-81.
Defending NSIC individual champion
Abbey Kurmel closed the three-day tournament tied for the best round on Sunday, five-over-par 77, and finished in a tie for 18
th overall with a 54-hole score of 247 (85-85-77).
Junior
Tricia Hemann closed out Wayne State scoring with a 265, placing 39
th overall, following rounds of 83-89-93.
