Wayne State used a total of 29 hits across two ball games to defeat Bemidji State 16-2 and 18-8 in NSIC action in Wayne, Nebraska on Friday. Wayne State moves to 13-15 on the season with a 7-7 record in the NSIC while the Beavers fall to 2-30 on the year with a 1-16 record in the NSIC.

GAME 1: Wayne State 16 Bemidji State 2

           The Wildcats would never trail in the first game using a RBI triple from
Hunter Babe to score their first run of the game.
Quinn McCafferty would then double to right center on the next at back to bring Babe home to build the 2-0 lead.
Trey Wells was up next hitting his fifth home run of the season to build the 4-0 lead for the 'Cats early in the ball game. In the second,
Colin Lynam would have the second triple of the day bringing home two more runs to build the WSC lead up to 6-0. Babe would then be next to bat getting a double to left field to bring in Lynam to make it a 7-0 ball game at the end of the second inning. WSC would then see Lynam score on a Beaver wild pitch in the fourth inning brining up
Nick Barnett to hit his second home run of the year building the Wildcat lead up to 11-0 at the end of four innings. Wildcats would score four more runs in the fifth inning highlighted by the first career Wildcat hit from
Keagan McLaughlin which was a home run out to left field. WSC would lead 15-0 after five innings. WSC would tac on one more run in the sixth before Bemidji State would get themselves on the board in the seventh inning off a two-run homer to centerfield making the final 16-2 in favor of Wayne State.

           Lynam and McCafferty would the leading batters for WSC both going two of three from the plate with two runs scored each. Babe would also go two of two from the plate for WSC. Barnett would lead WSC in RBIs with three. Lynam. Babe, McLaughlin, and
Trey Wells would all have two RBIs in the win.

Corbin Kirk was the winning pitcher for the 'Cats pitching six innings giving up only five hits while striking out ten Bemidji State batters. Corbin is now 1-3 on the season for Wayne State.

GAME 2: Wayne State 18 Bemidji State 8 (Final 7 Innings)

           Bemidji State would look to strike back against Wayne State in the second game scoring three runs in the first inning building their first lead of the day at 3-0.
Carter Thomas would get on base for the 'Cats in the first, scoring off a fielding error from the Beavers right fielder cutting into the lead at 3-1 after one inning. Beavers would then use a strong second inning scoring a pair of runs building a 5-1 lead on WSC. Wayne State would leave the bases loaded to end the second inning. In the third, WSC would come roaring back starting with a home run from Lynam followed by a sac fly from
Braden Cannon and a double from
Chase Douglas to help tie the game at 5-5. Wayne State would extend the momentum into the fourth inning where McCafferty would use a two run RBI single to give the 'Cats their first lead of the game at 7-5.
Kyler Essink would then use and RBI double to help the 'Cats extend the lead to 8-5 before Douglas would hit a two run RBI single to make it 10-5 in favor of the 'Cats. WSC would add two more in the bottom of the fifth after McCafferty would have a two run RBI double to make it 12-5. Bemidji State would look to comeback in the seventh inning with a pair of RBI doubles to cut into the WSC lead at 12-8 before WSC would use a six-run bottom half of the inning to come away with the 18-8 win highlighted by a Cannon three run RBI double.

           Thomas would go three of five from the plate scoring three runs in the second game along with three runs scored. Douglas would go three of five from the plate with five RBIs in the win. Lynam would score four runs for the 'Cats. McCafferty and Cannon would each have four RBIs for Wayne State.

Josh Kilzer was credited with the win for Wayne State (3-1) with three strikeouts on 4.2 innings pitched.
Jackson Shelburne would pitch 1.1 innings for the 'Cats with one strikeout.
Nolan Belt and
Jacob Kneifl also saw action in the win for Wayne State.
