2022-23 NSIC Women's Golf All-Conference Team Release

Three members of the Wayne State College women's golf team were named to the 2022-23 Northern Sun Conference Women's Golf Team announced Monday morning by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota.  Junior Jazmine Taylor, sophomore Abbigail Brodersen and freshman Saffire Sayre were each named All-NSIC Second Team.
Taylor, a graduate of Millard North HS, led the Wildcats in scoring average this season at 78.00 (new school record) and was named to the NSIC All-Tournament Team after placing second at last month's NSIC Championships with a +13 229 for 54 holes.
For the season, Taylor had one tournament win, four top five and five top 10 finishes.  She opened the season by setting a new school record with rounds of 71 and 72 (143) to win the Golden Bear Classic and named NSIC Golfer of the Week.  Taylor also tied for second at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Invite and tied for third at the SMSU Spring Challenge.
Brodersen, a sophomore from Albion (Boone Central HS), earned All-NSIC Second Team honors with a scoring average of 80.76 to rank fourth all-time for a single season scoring average at WSC.  She had nine rounds in the 70's this season and one top five finish while being one of Wayne State's most consistent scorers.  Brodersen tied for second at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Invite last fall and tied for 11th at last month's Wildcat Classic with rounds of 76 and 77 for a 36-hole score of 153, her season-best 36-hole total.
Sayre, a freshman from West Des Moines, Iowa (West Des Moines Valley HS), was an All-NSIC Second Team selection after posting a season scoring average of 80.38, the third-best single season scoring average in program history.  She earned NSIC All-Tournament Team honors after finishing in a tie for fifth at the NSIC Championships (+17/233) that included an even-par round of 72 for the best 18-hole score ever by a Wildcat player at the NSIC Championships.  Sayre had three top five finishes and five top 10's, including a second-place finish at the SMSU Spring Challenge with scores of 72-82 for 154.  She was also named WSC Female Freshman Athlete of the Year.
Wayne State finished third at the 2023 NSIC Women's Golf Championships and set a new school record with a team scoring average of 319.62, an improvement of 4.5 strokes from last year's school record team scoring average.
