Dylan Kneifl won the high jump to lead the Wayne State men's indoor track and field team Friday evening at South Dakota State Last Chance Invite in Brookings, South Dakota. The meet was the final tune-up before next week's NSIC Indoor Championships in Mankato, Minnesota.
Kneifl cleared 6' 9 1'4" to win the high jump with freshman
Elliott Nottlemann taking fourth at 6' 2 ¾".
The Wildcats had a trio of second-place finishes as Gabe Peitz was runner-up in the 600-meter run (1:22.84), sophomore
Keaton Wattier took second in the 60-meter hurdles finals at 8.21 seconds and
Quentin Dreyer came in second in the 1,000-meter run at 2:31.10.
Third place finishes were posted by
Daylin Mallory in the shot put with a top mark of 51' 11 ¾" and
Wyatt Nissen collected a third place finish in the 200-meter dash at 22.54 seconds.
In the long jump,
Alex Brandt recorded a sixth-place finish at 20' 1 ½" with
Jarrett McQueen eighth at 19' 5 ½".
Freshman
Jaxson Ninete was sixth in the weight throw (51' 9") and
Matthew Logue took seventh at 50' 8".
Wayne State competes at the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships next Friday and Saturday in Mankato, Minnesota.
