Sophomore thrower
Olivia Schwarzrock won the weight throw with an NCAA provisional mark of 56' 8 ½" to lead the Wayne State women's indoor track and field team Friday evening at South Dakota State Last Chance Invite held in Brookings, South Dakota at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. Host SDSU along with Augustana, Northern State, Sioux Falls and Wayne State competed in the meet.
Schwarzrock, a sophomore from Gibbon, Minnesota, captured first place in the weight throw with an NCAA provisional mark of 56' 8 ½" for the top Wildcat finish in the meet. Teammates
McKenna Markle placed sixth in the event at 53' ¾" and
Reilly Young was seventh at 51' 4 ½".
Graduate student
Kylie Pachta had the top finish in running events for the Wildcats taking second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.71 while freshman
Callie Kirchner was third in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 3:04.35.
Other top finishes for the Wildcats included
Anna Coffee fourth in the 60-meter hurdles finals (9.42),
Sydney Escritt was sixth in the 3,000-meter run at 11:09.03,
Jozlyn Barnes placed sixth in the 800-meter run (2:26.68) and
Maya Couch came in sixth in the 60-meter dash finals in 7.93 seconds.
Senior
Kelsey Larsen was seventh in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:06.18 with
Faith Polacek taking eighth at 3:09.22.
Keyla Sambo also finished eighth in the triple jump at 34' 7 ¾".
Wayne State competes at the Northern Sun Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships next weekend on Friday and Saturday in Mankato, Minnesota.
