Wayne State's #1 pairing of
Taya Beller and
Allie Petry defeated Nebraska's #1 duo of Harper Murray and Laney Choboy in three sets, but Nebraska registered a 4-1 victory over the Wildcats in beach volleyball played Monday afternoon at the UNL Campus Courts in Lincoln. The Huskers are now 5-0 on the young season while WSC is 1-1.
Beller and Petry picked up a three-set win over Nebraska's #1 duo of Harper Murray and Laney Choboy by scores of 13-21, 21-15, 15-3.
One other match went all three sets as the Wildcat's #5 pairing of
Taylor Bunjer and
Rhianna Wilhelm battled Andi Jackson and Olivia Mauch before falling 21-10, 15-21, 15-10.
In the 2's match,
Jordan McCormick and
Channatee Robles suffered a 21-14, 21-14 loss to Lindsay Krause and Lexi Rodriguez. The 3's pairing of
Ella Myler and
Brooke Peltz lost to Ally Batenhorst and Bergen Reilly 21-14 and 21-9 and in the 4's battle it was
Brooklyn Kusler and
Molly Romano suffering a 21-10 and 21-11 setback to Merritt Beason and Skyler Pierce.
In the exhibition match Nebraska's Maisie Boesiger and Kyla Kenney topped Wayne State's
Laney Kathol and
Jordie Nekl 21-11, 21-11.
Wayne State resumes play on Monday, March 4
th when the Wildcats open their annual spring break trip in Arizona with a match against Benedictine Mesa at 3 p.m. Central Time.
