Wayne State College opened the 2024 beach volleyball season Monday afternoon with a 5-0 sweep over Ottawa University of Kansas at the University of Nebraska Campus Courts in Lincoln.
            The first Wildcat victory came from the #5 pairing of Taylor Bunjer and Rhianna Wilhelm in a sweep over Ottawa's Brenna Diller and Raevyn Russell by scores of 21-16, 21-14.  The 3's duo of Ella Myler and Brooke Peltz followed with a 21-8, 21-16 win.
            The 4's pairing of Brooklyn Kusler and Molly Romano won in straight sets 21-17, 21-19 and the #1 duo of Taya Beller and Allie Petry cruised to a 21-5, 21-8 victory.
            Completing the sweep was the #2 pairing of Jordan McCormick and Channatee Robles with a 21-8, 21-19 victory.
            The exhibition match saw Ottawa edge the Wildcat pairing of Laney Kathol land Jordie Nekl by scores of 21-19, 21-17.
            Wayne State is scheduled to face Nebraska Monday afternoon in their second match at the Nebraska/Ottawa Triangular in Lincoln.
