Sophomore thrower
Daylin Mallory had the top Wayne State finish for the Wildcat men's outdoor track and field team Friday at the outdoor season-opening Wildcat Classic at LeRoy Simpson Track/Cunningham Field in Wayne. The event attracted teams from Dakota State, Dakota Wesleyan, Dordt, Midland, Minnesota State, Morningside, Mount Marty, Northwestern, Sioux Falls and host Wayne State.
Norfolk sophomore
Daylin Mallory had the top Wildcat finish, taking second in the shot put with a mark of 52' 6" and fifth in the discus at 153' 1".
Freshman
J'Dyn Bullion posted a third-place finish in the discus with a top throw of 160' 7" and
Daniel Elge registered a third-place mark in the hammer throw at 180' 7". Senior
Titus Kiptoo also had a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:55.39.
Sophomore
Keaton Wattier placed third in the 110-meter high hurdles with a clocking of 14.89 seconds, senior Gabe Peitz took third in the 800-meter run at 1:57.76 and
Andrew Wyllie was fourth at 1:59.34.
Braden Johnson posted a fourth-place finish in the long jump (22' 3 1/2") with
Cody Rogers sixth at 22' 1 ½".
Quentin Dreyer collected a fifth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run at 4:01.93 and senior
Dylan Kneifl finished fifth in the high jump clearing 6' 7".
Other top finishers for Wayne State included
Austin Madsen taking sixth in the 400-meter dash (51.08),
Wyatt Nissen was eighth in the 200-meter dash (23.47) and freshman
Elliott Nottlemann took eighth in the high jump (6' 5").
The Wildcat 4 x 400-meter relay team of Madsen, Peitz, Wyllie and Dreyer came in fifth place with a time of 3:40.77.
Wayne State will compete again next Friday and Saturday at the Concordia Invite in Seward.
