Wayne State College assistant track and field coach Carly Fehringer has been voted NSIC Men's Assistant Coach of the Year announced Thursday afternoon by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota as the league announced its Outdoor Track and Field Athletes and Coaches of the Year. It's the first time that Fehringer has received NSIC Assistant Coach of the Year honors.
Fehringer, in her sixth season as throws coach at Wayne State, coached one NSIC champion and two All-NSIC performers at last weekend's NSIC Championships in Duluth, Minnesota while also having three Wildcat throwers qualify for the upcoming NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Emporia, Kansas May 21-22.
Fehringer coached junior
Jaxson Ninete to an NSIC title in the hammer throw while Norfolk sophomore
Samuel Zazueta earned All-NSIC honors with a third-place finish. The duo led a group of five Wildcats that medaled in the event.
J'Dyn Bullion also earned All-NSIC honors placing third in the discus and earlier this season set a new school record in the discus.
With the performance of the Wildcat throwers scoring 33 points, Wayne State posted a fifth-place finish at the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships last weekend in Duluth, Minnesota.
