The Wayne State College beach volleyball team opened pool play Friday morning at the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championships in Tavares, Florida with a 3-0 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Javelinas are now 14-10 following the win with WSC falling to 7-4 on the season.
The Wildcats' #1 pairing of
Taya Beller and
Allie Petry fell to Texas A&M-Kingsville's Rylan Pollard and Kalana Vasquez by scores of 21-19, 21-16. Wayne State's #3 duo of
Ella Myler and
Brooke Peltz suffered a similar defeat to Madelyn Wallace and Olivia Zeigler from Texas A&M-Kingsville by the same scores of 21-19, 21-16.
Wayne State's #5 pairing of
Taylor Bunjer and
Rhianna Wilhelm were defeated by Rylie Anderson and Meghan Stiefer from Texas A&M-Kingsville 21-18, 21-14.
Wayne State is scheduled to face Saint Leo of Florida in another pool play match at 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championships in Florida.
