Sophomores
Alex Altman and
Daylin Mallory registered event wins in the hammer throw and shot put respectively to lead a strong performance by Wildcat throwers at the Sioux City Relays Friday afternoon and evening at Olsen Stadium in Sioux City.
           Wayne State had four of the top six performers in the hammer throw, led by Altman's winning mark of 178' 9".Â
Daniel Elge was second at 173' 4" with
Matthew Logue third (165' 6") and
Jaxson Ninete sixth at 164' 1".
           The Wildcats other event win came from Mallory in the shot put with a winning toss of 54' 5 ½".Â
Joshua Olesen came in sixth at 46' ¾" and Ninete finished seventh (43' 11 ¾").
           Sophomore
Keaton Wattier had the top qualifying time in the 110-meter high hurdles at 14.80 seconds with
Debonaire Williams fourth at 15.92.Â
           Senior Gabe Peitz had a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run at 1:55.35 and
Austin Madsen was eighth in the 400-meter dash in 50.90 seconds.  Â
           Wayne State is in action again Saturday competing in Vermillion at the South Dakota Challenge starting at 11 a.m.Â
